We have released a change to the staging sandbox which may affect your videos under the following scenario:
- You output square (1:1) videos and you use the HTML asset
What will happen?
With the new update the text in your videos will appear larger than expected when rendered by approximately 2 times.
Why are we making this change?
There is currently a bug with how we scale and crop video clips to a square aspect ratio, that results in loss of video quality. To work around this bug we double the size of the clips while editing and then export the video at the correct size when rendering. This meant you would also need to specify font sizes at double the size needed, i.e. to get text at 20px you would actually need to use 40px.
We have now resolved the underlying bug which means we will remove the work around so that font sizes are set correctly, i.e. if you have fonts set to 40px, they will now be rendered at 40px and appear too large.
What action should I take?
We have deployed the update to the staging sandbox. Please check any videos that you render using square aspect ration and HTML text. If the font size is not what you expect please adjust the font size in pixels to the expected size.
Please notify us if you have made any adjustments by 5th June 2020 so we can coordinate deployment to the production environment.
