We are upgrading our text rendering engine that will speed up title render times by at least 2x and open up future possibilities for new formatting and styling options.
This update will affect existing video renders in two ways:
- Anti-aliasing will be lighter - text used in title assets will look lighter, i.e. less bold
- Text size - we will be resetting the text size - the current small, x-small and xx-small sizes are too small to see so we are adjusting the sizing to sane values. If you previously did not specify a size or you used medium the equivalent is now x-small. Other sizes will need to be adjusted accordingly.
There is also an issue with text offsetting that will affect videos as follows:
- Text offsetting - text offsetting is not working as expected, there is a bug that makes setting x and y co-ordinates unintuitive, in some cases working in opposite directions to what you would expect. We will be resolving this issue so that x and y co-ordinates work where positive x values offset a title right, negative left and positive y values offset titles up and negative down.
We will roll out this update to staging in the next 2-12 hours and to production in the next 48-72 hours.
If you have real world videos being used in production or have any questions, please file a support ticket and we can advise how to prepare for this change.
